
FRA SETS UP 1200 SATELLITE DEPOTS
The Food Reserve Agency -FRA has set up One Thousand 2-Hundred Satellite Depots for the current Maize Marketing Season that opened on June 29, 2020.
FRA Public Relations Coordinator John Chipandwe has confirmed in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka.
Mr.Chipandwe said the Maize Marketing Season is progressing well as farmers are frequently supplying the commodity and receiving payments promptly.
Meanwhile some farmers of Shibuyunji District in Central Province are elated with the prompt receipt of payments after supplying maize.
Osborne Shalupa, a Shibuyunji Farmer has told ZNBC News in Lusaka that the status quo is motivating to farmers across the country.
Mr. Shalupa said he has been paid within a day upon supplying the maize to FRA.
Another Shibuyunji Farmer James Machila expressed delight with the prompt payment of maize suppliers.
Mr .Machila has urged farmers to be wary of private maize buyers that would possibly dupe them.
The FRA is earmarked to buy One Million Metric tonnes of maize during this current Maize Marketing Season.
Government has already released one billion Kwacha out of the two point two billion Kwacha budget for the maize purchasing exercise.
